Hello - I’m Sam.


I’m a director and movement director for theatre and opera.


I’m currently UK Associate Director for&#38;nbsp;Back to the Future: The Musical,&#38;nbsp;and Joint Artistic Director of Voloz Collective, an international physical theatre company.


I make playful, precise, highly physical work, ranging from acrobatic reinventions of classics to genre-bending new writing. I’m drawn to wonder, transformation and risk, and the vulnerability these create.
My productions have been recognised as Critic’s Picks by&#38;nbsp;The New York Times and Playbill, and featured in The Guardian’s Readers’ Favourite Stage Shows of 2022.



Earlier in my career, I worked across stand-up and sketch comedy - collaborating with artists including Jack Whitehall, Daran Johnson, Leo Reich, Liam Williams and Richard Gadd. My movement work with these artists was desibed as “intensely funny” (The Guardian) and “a fearless display of physicality” (The List) and featured in productions for Netflix, Tiger Aspect, HBO and A24.&#38;nbsp; 
My rehearsal practice is informed by my training at l’École Jacques Lecoq - but often departs from it.
I speak French and Spanish with professional working fluency, and have a basic understanding of Arabic (MSA).
